I have just returned from an amazing overseas trip. I had the opportunity to visit Seoul, Korea to experience the inaugural Redbull Kick It and also spend a week in Phuket, Thailand for some training. My trip began with the latter, where i had heard so much about Thailand and it lived up to all my expectations. Their hospitality was amazing, the food and natural juices were the freshest, scenery and natural beauty is second to none and the training i did at Tiger Muay Thai was very rewarding. The huge open nature of the gyms their were awesome. The weather was a challenge and was difficult to acclimatize although it was a huge learning experience for me in many ways. Here is a short clip of my training
Following my stay in Thailand it was time to head to the home of Taekwondo, Korea. It was 5th visit to Korea and i really do enjoy going back and experiencing the culture of the place. This time it was for Redbull Kick it. An event which combined the elements of Tricking and Board Breaking, making it a complete spectacle. Here is a highlight video of the event.
Leading up to the event i did some training in Korea and also visited the Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters. I was lucky enough to train with Ingun You, the eventual winner of the Redbull event. I look forward to heading back to korea in the future for some more training.
Back home in Sydney, classes at the Australian Martial Arts academy have been going great. Many students recently getting one step closer to their black belt with the September round of gradings. I was also honored to be invited to run an Introductory Martial Arts Workshop for a group of actors at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts, NIDA. The lessons have been running smoothly and i am loving the dedication the actors are putting into their training. It is to compliment their physical component of their course!
Until Next time!
